With COVID cases rising sharply and some of the world’s first vaccinations happening at Southmead Hospital, we spent January in lockdown.

Darren challenged the Prime Minister on the Conservative Government’s record on child poverty. Child Poverty is on the rise in the UK, so Darren formally wrote to the Prime Minister ahead of questioning him at the Liason Committee., a special meeting where the Prime Minister is scrutinised by Select Committee Chairs.

Following on from this and in partnership with the Good Things Foundation, Darren launched a campaign to get affordable high-speed broadband to every family with a child on free school meals. Throughout the winter lockdowns, too many children could not get online to learn from home.
