Seeking help for passport applications

We are happy to help constituents wherever possible, but the avenues open to us to chase passport applications are limited. We can only make enquiries if you have been waiting for more than 10 weeks or if the passport is required for medical emergencies, end of life or bereavement-related circumstances.

Based on our experiences in handling these cases, here are our top tips for applying and following up on your passport application:

1) Apply ASAP – you might have a 10+ week wait.

2) If you need your passport urgently, apply for a Fast Track appointment from the outset.
If you apply via a different route, you cannot switch to the Fast Track service later.

3) Applications can only be expedited after 10 weeks.
Call 0300 222 0000 and the Passport Office should be able to help. If you continue to experience problems at this stage, contact your MP. For residents of Bristol North West only, please email darren.jones.mp@parliament.uk
